notes from a
bamboo flute
rise and fall
on the breeze
–Terry Chitwood
The market moves like music, sometimes swinging between octaves in certain time frames, pausing for a number of beats, changing tempo on a whim, then continuing its serpentine journey. Sometimes the music is raucous, sometimes sweet, always surprising – at times, it makes you weep.
Melodic Waves
Rising and falling in melodic waves, the market sings an ethereal melody, Shrouded in darkness, barely heard, the higher notes create a holy word. The rhythm of angel wings beating as one form a backbeat that reaches the sun. Bits of sunlight fall from the sky, touching the darkness which turns into light.
Music as Math
Music dissected looks like math. Numerical relationships abound and it’s more than just chance. Counting the number of candlesticks between swing highs and swing lows helps you discern the rhythm of the market. Cycles repeat, then change the count between pivots, moving faster or slower, changing tempo. Being in tune with the pulse of the market helps you to know where to enter its song.
