on the boulder
making it disappear
As a trader, you generally trade from your intellect, artificially severing your connection with your emotions, and blotting out your relationship to your soul. Covering your soul (the boulder) with cold intellectual concepts (snow) may seem to make your soul disappear, but the snow melts in the spring sun.
Traders accumulate book knowledge ravenously, minute-by-minute, day-by-day, year-by-year until their heads harden, and the tough crust like barnacles needs to be scraped off. There is an old hero’s quest tale where the hero has to symbolically remove his head and leave it at the edge of the forest before entering in order to have a successful quest. Suspending your thinking or trading without your head can be one step forward in your trading odyssey.
It’s common for traders to want to get ahead (a head), but it’s better to leave rigid rationality behind. Developing values of the heart like courage, compassion and love would better serve your overall personal development. Learn to trade from your heart and not from your head.
