Tao Te Ching (Chapter 21)
The greatest Virtue is to follow Tao and Tao alone.
The Tao is elusive and intangible.
Oh, it is intangible and elusive, and yet within is image.
Oh, it is elusive and intangible, and yet within is form.
Oh, it is dim and dark, and yet within is essence.
This essence is very real, and therein lies faith.
From the very beginning until now its name has never been forgotten.
Thus I perceive the creation.
How do I know the ways of creation?
Because of this.
(By Lao Tsu, translated by Gia-Fu Feng and Jane English)
“How do I know the ways of creation?” “I perceive the creation.” This means that you have to have a direct inner experience of the way the Tao operates. This direct inner experience translates into a foundation of inner knowledge which guides your steps through life. And from the foundation of inner knowledge springs “faith.”
The Elusive Market
“The Tao is elusive and intangible.” So is the market. “It is elusive and intangible, and yet within is form.” Traders create structure in the market through wave counts, Fibonacci price retracement and extension levels, Fibonacci time extension levels, pivot points, triads, swing levels, chart patterns, cycles, price and volume indicators, etc. However, many times, the market evades these artificial structures by creating spontaneous and unique patterns.
A Trading Robot
Rather than throwing up your hands in defeat and grasping for a seemingly secure artificial trading system, consider self-development. Instead of striving to become a trading robot which can be extremely boring, seek to “know the ways of creation” which can be extremely challenging. And then you can say (if you’re in the mood to say anything), “I perceive the creation.”
