Tao Te Ching (Chapter 52)

That which creates the universe

is the Mother of the world

By knowing the Mother

one knows her children

By knowing her children

one comes to know her

Such is their unity

that one does not exist without the other

Fully embrace your life

and you will share in the glory of creation

The Mother herself will be your guardian

and all her creation will be your guide

Stay with the Mother, shut the mouth, close the gates

and you are never in trouble

Abandon the Mother, open the mouth, be busy with others

and you are beyond all hope of rescue

Seeing your own smallness is called insight

Honoring your own tenderness is called strength

The sun in all its glory

reveals but a passing world

Only the inner light illumines eternity

Only that light can guide us back home

Have faith

Follow your own shining

Be aware of your own awareness

On the darkest nights you will not stumble

On the brightest days you will not blink

This is called

“The Practice of Eternal Light”

(By Lao Tsu, translated by Jonathan Star)

“Let There Be Light” (Genesis 1:3, King James Bible)

“. . . And God divided the light from the darkness (ibid. 1:4). Creating light is part of the Biblical creation story. In Yoga, Buddhism and Taoism (“The Practice of Eternal Light”), gaining luminous awareness or golden consciousness is called enlightenment. In trading, being in the dark will cost you money.

Luminous Trading

Create your own trading style! “Follow your own shining.” Use your inner awareness to discover your own way to trade. “Be aware of your own awareness.” Let the Tao light your path with songlines (see Australian Aborigines), so you can discover your true trading song. “[May] the pure light within you, guide you all the way on” (“Rainbow” by The Incredible String Band). An interesting aside, the song “Rainbow” alludes to the “rainbow body” in Tibetan yoga. “When we do finally let go of any and all ideas of our body as something that is solid and conceptually identifiable, so it is said, our body simply dissolves into light, the famed ‘rainbow body’ described in Dzogchen” (Touching Enlightenment: Finding Realization in the Body by Reginald A. Ray, PH.D. p.54). “Only the inner light illumines eternity. Only that light can guide us back home.”

Protective Intuition

Your own trading style protects you. “On the darkest nights you will not stumble. On the brightest days you will not blink.” If you trade from your own style put together by the deep inner guidance of the Tao, you have an early warning system in place. Your intuition can warn you of market hazards. “Have faith. Fully embrace your life.”
