Tao Te Ching (Chapter 54)
Whoever is planted in the Tao
will not be rooted up.
Whoever embraces the Tao
will not slip away.
Her name will be held in honor
from generation to generation.
Let the Tao be present in your life
and you will become genuine.
Let it be present in your family
and your family will flourish.
Let it be present in your country
and your country will be an example
to all countries in the world.
Let it be present in the universe
and the universe will sing.
How do I know this is true?
By looking inside myself.
(By Lao Tsu, interpreted by Stephen Mitchell)
Looking Inside
Most traders look outside themselves for trading answers. They look to experts, books, DVDs, and courses. All these externals can have a place in the trader’s journey, but a trader will seldom find a deep sense of peace with his or her trading until the trader maintains a connection to the deepest source of peace, the Tao. “How do I know this is true? By looking inside myself.”
Stolid trading truths not based on inner experience can never completely be relied upon. In many cases, these purported truths are best guesses and not verified by an individual’s inner experience. Trading wisdom rooted in the Tao gives calm confidence. “Whoever is planted in the Tao will not be rooted up.” So embrace the Tao’s wisdom and you will have peace as an unwavering companion. “Whoever embraces the Tao will not slip away.”
Note: I plan on writing commentary for chapters 55-81 of the Tao Te Ching but not posting it on my blog. Instead, I plan on publishing commentary for all 81 chapters, including Taoist drawings, in an eBook.
