“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field” (Matthew 13:44, KJV).
Greed
As a trader, you need to value your inner treasure (your spiritual journey, your individuation process) more than worldly riches. In Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, the greedy pirates end up marooned on the island. Don’t let your greed strand you in an untenable state of alienation from the warmth of God’s love.
God’s Translation
English poet John Donne states, “No man is an island” (Meditation XVII). “All mankind is of one author” (ibid.). God is the author and translator of the tapestry of your life. As a trader, remember that your life is interwoven with the lives of other traders in God’s seemingly hidden purpose.
Your Hidden Purpose
Once you discover your hidden treasure—your life’s hidden purpose—you will realize its incalculable value.
“There is an inner reality within each of us that is like a great treasure lying hidden in the field of our soul waiting to be discovered. Someone who finds this inner treasure, and recognizes its value, will happily give up all other goals and ambitions in order to make it real in his or her life.” (The Kingdom Within: The Inner Meaning of Jesus’ Sayings by John A. Sanford, p.26).
Your Path
Use your newfound inner wealth for the greater glory of God. Walk your trading path with integrity. Make your trading path part of your spiritual path. Remember, your path is the goal.
