“He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God” (John 8:47, KJV).
Choose God
These are strong words. You can’t straddle the moral fence. You are either with God or not with God. This verse needs to be interpreted carefully because it could be used to discriminate against other religions and other people’s belief systems.
Egocentricity and Evil
However, evil is a reality. And egocentricity takes you to evil’s doorstep. Perhaps, beyond.
“We have seen that the ego in its egocentricity is a kind of devil, but it is not the devil. Behind the deviltry of the egocentric ego is the archetype of evil. The essence of this evil, John states, is that evil lies, and so destroys the truth. The egocentric ego has a tendency to lie because it wants to avoid facing the truth about itself, but behind this personal evil lies the archetype, that collective power within all of us that leads the ego into the tendency to twist, distort, and deny the truth. It is this evil power that causes the ego to block out the word of God, to be incapable of ‘hearing’ the voice of truth, as John makes clear in 8:47” (Mystical Christianity: A Psychological Commentary on the Gospel of John by John A. Sanford, p.195).
Discernment
Is the egocentric ego your trading partner? If so, you’re not doing God-centered trading. You certainly don’t want evil guiding your trading. You could be financially destroyed. Which voices in your mind are twisting the truth and leading you astray? Discern where these voices are coming from. Only follow the voice of the Spirit. Remember, this does not guarantee winning trades but it does guarantee you won’t lose your soul while trading.
