Tao Te Ching (Chapter 48)
Learning consists of filling;
Following the Tao consists of emptying.
So the sage does less and less
until nothing is done.
When things are doing themselves,
nothing is left undone.
To live harmoniously
in the world,
Let the world do itself.

Empty your Cup
When is it time to stop accumulating trading knowledge for its own sake? That time is when the accumulated trading knowledge inhibits pulling the trigger or making consistently profitable trades. Although “learning consists of filling,” a unique kind of learning requires emptying. “Following the Tao consists of emptying.” Letting go of trading knowledge that doesn’t fit your personality can only be beneficial. In fact, if you let the Tao effortlessly filter your trading knowledge, you will be left with what is essential. “So the sage does less and less until nothing is done.”
Learn by Unlearning
Learning by unlearning. That’s the Tao’s method. Through the ego’s nonaction, the Tao can effortlessly act. “When things are doing themselves, nothing is left undone.” Pull the trigger after consulting the essential knowledge left by the Tao. Let the market move as it will and join the flow. “To live harmoniously in the world, let the world do itself.”
